Happy Valentine’s Day, friends! My family has been fighting off all kinds of winter bugs so I’m a little behind on my writing.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to talk about relationships and what we need to do to maintain happy, healthy relationships.
While some feel today is a Hallmark holiday, others use it to help those in their lives feel extra special. From significant others to children to friends, today is a great day to tell someone how much you care for them and why do you think they’re special.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT tells us, “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”
Here are a 3 ways to show love to others all year long:
1. Tell your spouse/significant other why you love them. While keeping it simple and saying, “I love you,” is wonderful, I’ve found telling your spouse WHY you love him/her is more authentic.
Example: I love you because you work hard for our family every day.
2. Encourage your kids by telling them what they are doing well.
Example: I love how you always pick up after yourself when you’re playing.
3. Speak life into your friend’s or family’s lives by telling them what impresses you most about them.
Example: I love your resiliency and consistency with your side hustle. Your determination inspires me to work harder.
The moral of the story, my friends, is everyone likes to be encouraged every now and again – some of us more than others. Take the time today to lift someones spirit with your kind words and gestures.
